Dr. Jaimie St. Ama is a Florida Licensed Psychologist and runs the Trauma Clinic at PBBHW. Dr. St. Ama brings extensive training and experience in trauma related therapy and interventions. Trauma can manifest from grief and loss, adjustments and changes in the family structure, sexual, emotional, behavioral, or verbal assault and abuse, medical complications, disaster, attachment, identity concerns, or chronic mental health problems. However, it can be very personal to the individual and PBBHW helps each person understand their specific presentation and ways to heal. Becoming a survivor is an important part of healing and Dr. St. Ama helps individuals learn to cross that line into a healthy way of coping. Dr. St. Ama utilizes a combination of dialectical, cognitive, behavioral, and interpersonal therapy to meet clients where they are and provide what each client needs in a therapeutic relationship. Dr. St. Ama offers individual and group therapy, neurofeedback, care coordination, and diagnostic testing.
Dr. St. Ama believes in a holistic approach and is comfortable with treating children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. St. Ama believes establishing rapport in a trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth. She takes an integrative approach that combines behavior management strategies, play therapy, sand tray therapy, interpersonal therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy to meet the individual where they are while promoting positive development. Dr. St. Ama respects and understands the different approaches necessary to work with individuals across the lifespan and she enjoys the diversity of this challenge. Additionally, she offers psychological testing to help each person better understand their unique strengths and limitations. She specializes in testing to confirm or differentiate a Developmental Trauma Disorder or Posttraumatic Stress Disorder but is competent with testing for academic, emotional, social, and behavioral concerns. Dr. St. Ama offers testing packages that can be tailored to what a client needs rather than a standard battery.
